Welcome

Advances in the techniques of the growth of high-perfect crystals of a wide range of materials lie at the roots of much of today's advanced technology. This session covers all the aspects of crystal growth and characterization of oxide and halide crystals and brings together scientists and technology users who investigate or develop materials for laser and nonlinear optical applications. Fundamental challenges associated with these crystals have hindered our ability to understand and exploit them for various applications. Specific topics of interest include, but are not limited to: crystal growth methods, characterization and improvement of crystal quality, structure-property-performance relationships, laser characteristics of gain media and nonlinear optical properties of crystals. Both experimental and theoretical works will be included in the oral and poster presentations at this session.
