Welcome

This session covers all aspects of surface and interface science which are relevant for growth processes, including the structure of solid-liquid interfaces, surface defects and surfactants. Studies concerning the influence of surface properties on the initial stages of thin film and interface formation are invited as well as studies on the growth and properties of 2-dimensional layers.

Programme

Invited speakers (confirmed):

Gen Sazaki (Hokkaido University, Japan)
In-situ observation of emergences of quasi-liquid layers from ice basal faces by advanced optical microscopy

Christian Teichert (Montanuniversitaet Leoben, Austria)
Interface controlled crystalline organic layers

Patric Vogt (Technische Universität Berlin, CNRS-CINaM, France)
Growth and properties of epitaxial single and multi-layer silicene

Yukiko Yamada-Takamura (Japan Advanced Institute of Science and Technology, Japan)
Spontaneous formation of silicene on diboride thin films grown on Si wafers
