This talk will mainly focus on genetic engine operators and parameters, that are essential in obtaining any good results on a particular problem. The No Free Lunch theorem will be evoked, to underline that off the shelf algorithms simply do not work.

An evolutionary algorithm must be finely tuned in order to solve a specific problem, so a selection of operators will be presented with their pros and cons, while also addressing beginner's questions concerning parameters settings.
