Mechanical milling (MM) was used to induce order-disorder transformation of NiAl. The alloy was prepared by arc melting of pure elements, then crushed and subjected to MM in a Fritsch planetary ball mill for 36,70 and 120 hours. Samples were studied both by DSC and X-Ray diffraction. Exothermic effects were observed in the range 500-800K while diffraction patterns shows variation in grains size, microstresses and long range order (LRO) parameter. The LRO parameter i.e. classical I[100]/I[200] ratio was correlated with the site occupation number obtained in the Rietveld refinement procedure using DBWS-9411.
