Abstract |
In parliamnets of European Union countries there are some percentage differences of women as MP's. Some countries try to regulate the nmber of female members by determining quotas of women on the electoral lists, but in some cases the percentage of women elected is high without any regulations in that field. There are also differences in the citizens standards of life depending on the state. The aim of the paper was to compare women participation in the lower house of parliament in 27 countries belonging to UE (plus Croatia which will join UE soon). Besides the structural estimation of fraction the comparison of Human Development Index (HDI) was accomplished in regard of women presence in country goverment. |
