Development of transparent thin film to improve corrosion protection of steel

Abstract

The corrosion behavior of silica thin film with different compositon deposited by PECVD on steel  was investigated in a 3.5% NaCl solution at ambient temperature. Potentiodynamic polarization tests, electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) and scanning electron microscopy (SEM) were the techniques applied to

characterize the corrosion behavior. In parallel, the composition and the structure of such thin film were analysis by several technique (IR, thickness, optical properties, AES, XPS, WCA) and correlate to the corrosion resistance of the film.
