Abstract |
The SiO2 submicron particles coated with an yttrium aluminum garnet (Y3Al5O12, YAG) layer doped with Tb3+ were prepared by the sol-gel method. The morphology and structure of samples determined by the X-ray powder diffraction (XRD) measurements and transmission electron microscope (TEM) images, respectively, indicated that well-crystallized nanocrystallites were form the evolution of luminescence properties. The effect of coating was analyzed by comparing properties of the Tb3+:Y3Al5O12 nanocrystalline powders and composite Tb3+:Y3Al5O12/SiO2 materials. A possible applications of obtained structures is discussed in this work. |
