Abstract |
Alkoxides and aryloxides of group 2 metals can be easily modified by organometallics giving crystalline binary metallic complexes. Such compounds are efficient single-source precursors (SSP) for metal oxide materials. Here we report syntheses, structures and thermal decomposition of mixed metal complexes: [M{(μ-ddbfo)2M'Rx}2] (ddbfoH = 2,3-dihydro-2,2-dimethylbenzofuran-7-ol; M/M'/R/x = Ba/Al/Me/2, Ba/Al/Et/2, Ba/Ga/Me/2, Ba/In/Me/2, Ba/Zn/Et/1, Sr/Al/Me/2), [Ca(μ-ddbfo){(μ-ddbfo)(μ-Me)AlMe2}]2, [Ca{(μ-OR)(μ-Me)AlMe2}], [Ca{(μ-OR)AlMe3}2(THF)2] (ROH = 2-methoxyethanol) . The SSP species possesses desired stoichiometry which is achieved on the molecular level and the resulting molecules subsequently thermolyzed yield oxide products. The chemical composition and surface morphology of heterometallic oxides were analyzed by SEM-EDS and X-ray powder diffraction (XRD) that revealed the formation of highly pure oxide materials with μm particle sizes. |
