Ultrahigh vacuum molecular beam epitaxy system was used for preparation of foll
owing samples polished sapphire/Mo(20nm)/Au(20nm)/ultrathin Co wedge (with
thickness 0<dCo<2nm)/silver wedge (0<dAg<6nm) perpendicular to cobalt one/Au(8n
m) coverage. Complementary millimeter and micrometer scales magnetooptical
studies based on polar Kerr effect were performed. A few silver monolayers have
a substantial effect on magnetic anisotropy, the coercivity field, magnetic do
main
structure and Kerr rotation. The silver overlayer thickness-driven magnetic reo
rientation from easy axis to easy plane generates new type of magnetic wall for
1.3<dCo<1.8nm. A noble metals overlayer structure tuning of magnetic properties
of ultrathin film gives new possibilities for magnetic patterning important fo
r new
research and practical application.
