Abstract

Especially prepared aqueous dispersion of carbon nanotubes (CNT) was introduced into commercially available paints/varnishes in small amounts (0.25-2.5 wt.% of carbon in dry mass of coat) to improve electrical, mechanical and thermal properties of final dry coats. Falling prices of CNT (<100 EUR/kg) make them attractive additive for existing commercial polymer materials. The addition of CNT in mentioned amounts to the investigated coating compositions allows to prepare coats with electroconductive (102-104 Ohm) or antistatic (105-109 Ohm) properties. The modification of commercial water-borne coating materials using CNT allows to improve their hardness, thermal stability and does not change their glass transition temperatures.
