Abstract |
Lanthanum cerium oxide (La2Ce2O7) nanoparticles have been synthesized by co-precipitation method at low temperature (600ºC) using Lanthanum nitrate hexahydrate (La(NO3)3.6H2O) and Cerium nitrate hexahydrate (Ce(NO3)3•6H2O) as source powder synthesis. Thermo gravimetric analysis (TGA), X-ray diffraction (XRD), Electron dispersive spectroscopy (EDS), Transmission electron microscopy (TEM) and Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR) were utilized to characterize the thermal, morphological, and chemical properties of the products. Thermo gravimetric analysis (TGA) of the material shows the removal of impurities at 600ºC, from X-ray diffraction (XRD) analysis the formation of cubic fluorite phase of lanthanum cerium oxide is observed, Electron dispersive spectroscopy (EDS) confirms the presence of both La and Ce. Particle size (55 to 80 nm) and cubic shape is observed from Transmission electron microscopy (TEM), and from Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR) analysis the presence of residual water and nitrate is observed. |
