In the last few years the expenditures for Research & Development covered from the national budget of the Republic of Poland have gradually decreased. In 2003 the financial means allocated to this purpose constituted 0,34 % of GDP whereas an average of GDP 1,3 % is spent for the same thing in other EU Member States.
In the face of the budget stringency, it is optimistically implied that non-budgetary and private recourses are to become the momentum for the development of research and evolutionary work supporting the progress of knowledge-based economy.
Stimulating cooperation between research and industry as well as implementation of achieved research results, become a vital need if we want to bring about a desired and real economic effect.
According to the Economic Strategy of the Polish Government, a real chance for Poland are the participation in projects executed within the 6th Framework Programme and an effective use of structural funds.
Therefore, the main aim of the ensuing presentation is to introduce Polish researchers and entrepreneurs, who seriously consider strong arise in the research world, to practical aspects and opportunities offered by Framework Programmes and its priorities, budget, instruments, application procedures. Functioning of the Network of Contact Points for the 6th Framework Programme will be demonstrated taking the RCP at the Technical University of Szczecin as an exemplum.
Moreover, financing possibilities for research activities coming from structural funds will be demonstrated during the lecture with regard to research projects producing commercially implemented results, specialized laboratories which have to be provided with top-class equipment, didactic objects destined for modernization, companies in need of technological trainings and many others.
