Abstract

Rapid crystallization is a well known method for production of ultra-fine grained metallic materials using the overcooling effect. In some cases it is possible to get the amorphous material even. Unfortunately, this method, nevertheless of technical realisation of this process, provide  material with very limited size, which must be consolidated to bulk form for technical use.  To prevent destabilisation of ultra-fine grain structure the consolidation process should to be quick enough and conducted in reasonable low temperature. Such reasons assure the process of plastic consolidation. In this process plastic deformation of individual particles develops new in status nascendi surfaces, which is able to create of strong bounds between collectively deformed particles of dispersed materials and  convert the powders to the bulk form. The plastic consolidation is the process of diffusionless agglomeration of plastically deformable particles of dispersed materials. Bulk materials with no measurable porosity are the product of this process, in which the character of interaction among individual particles of powder shows similar character like interaction at grain boundary or interfacial borders in polycrystals. Technical realization of this process can use the different plastic forming methods - drawing, rolling, forging and extrusion. This last process in form of isothermal extrusion as well as cold extrusion by "KoBo" method seems to be the most promising from economical point of view.
