Abstract

COMPLICATIONS OF THE UNIPOLAR ENDOPROSTHESIS AT MALIGNANT TUMOURS OF THE KNEE JOINT BONES.

The purpose: improvement of quality of life of the patient by preservation of extremities and its function, the prevention and treatment of possible complications at malignant tumours of knee joint bones.
There 39 patients were operated on: with the osteogenic sarcoma - 12, chondrosarcoma - 3, parosseaal sarcoma - 2, synovial sarcoma - 2, osteoclastoma - 15 (including 7 malignant), cancer metastasis - 3.
By 32 patient the unipolar endoprosthesis were carried out: a distal femur - 15, proximal tibia - 17. In 7 cases the subchondral femur endoprosthesis was taken place.
In 10 cases relapse of a tumour, in 2 - a purulent arthritis, in 1 - necrosis of skin rags took place. Concerning complications it were performed amputation of extremities to 9 patients, at 2 cases - removal of tumour units. The purulent gonarthrosis was managed by the drainage and the intraosseal antibiotics introduction.
Two patients have died in 3 weeks after operation from pulmonary arteries tromboemoly. At persons of advanced age it follows to prolong the anticoagulant therapy about two weeks.
