Abstract

Physics is a natural science having essential influence on development of economic analysis. A number of Economic Nobel Prize laureates were educated physicists who uses their professional abilities and applied formal-physical tools to enquire economic processes. Naturally this phenomenon has its own long history, it is enough to mention Nocolaus Copernicus who beside well known De Revolutionibus Orbium Coelestium, wrote a few years earlier (in 1526) economic treaty on money, Monetae cudendae ratio and Isaac Newton who beside being physicist was also Britain's master of the Mint (he has fixed the sterling-gold exchange rate, putting the country on a gold standard (continued until 1933)). In this context in the main part of the paper two revolutions observed in the history of economic though are shortly described, namely the marginalist revolution in the end of the 19th century (inspired mainly be the mechanics) and econophysics of the end of the 20th century.  In the first part of the paper a role of metaphor and analogies in epistemology and in science development is presented. The last (third) part of the paper contains a short remarks on using formal, mathematical apparatus in economic analysis.
