The Workshop on Nanostructured Photonic Sensors is a one-day forum, which will run at the Institute of Electron Technology, Al. Lotnikow 46 ( http://www.ite.waw.pl) following the SPIE International Congress on Optics and Optoelectronics and preceding the E-MRS Fall Meeting. The workshop has been designed to bring several research communities centered on advancing the science and techniques of gas sensing. (NOTE: There is no additional registration fee for this event.)

The specific goal of the Workshop is to present the results of running EC-funded project on Nanostructured Photonic Sensors, NANOPHOS ( http://www.nanophos.org) as well as addressing recent progress in the field.

The workshop will start with scene-setting invited lectures outlining state-of-the-art and future trends in the area. These will be followed be contributed presentations from NANOPHOS partners and from out-side scientists working in the field. We anticipate accepting a limited number of contributed oral presentations and organizing a poster session.

List of invited speakers includes:

Marie-Isabelle Baraton University of Limoges, France
Relevance of FTIR Spectroscopy for the Study of the Gas Detection Mechanism by Semiconductor Nanoparticles-Based Sensors

Corrado Di NataleUniversity of Rome Tor Vergata, Italy
Artificial olfaction systems based on optical transducers

Pietro SicilianoIstituto per la Microelettronica e i Microsistemi, IMM-CNR, Lecce, Italy
Innovative emerging concepts and technologies in chemical multisensing devices

Jacek Szuber
Institute of Physics, Silesian University of Technology, Gliwice, Poland
Nanomaterials for gas analysis

Contributed talks from NANOPHOS partners will focus on the following topics:

· Nanostructured Photonic Sensors: objectives, scope of research, current/expected results;

· Materials and technology of materials for Photonic Sensors: II-VI oxides and related multilayers, organics, polymers, nanocomposites;

· Techniques for fabricating device structures;

· Sensor-Head Device Integration.

The papers presented at the Workshop will be published in Internet Journal Electron Technology ( http://www.ite.waw.pl/etij/ ) after being reviewed already during and just after the Workshop.

Single page abstracts (including figures and references) should be sent in pdf form to:
