Abstract

The fluorescence of Chromium-doped silica, corundum and periclase has
been investigated using laser Raman spectroscopy under ambient as well
as high PT-conditions. The results reveal a strong dependence of
fluorescence lines on Cr-concentration in the materials and on the
PT-conditions at which the samples were investigated. The intensity of
fluorescence also decreases for compressed samples. The mixture of
Cr-doped silica and periclase was also used for the insitu synthesis
of perovskite under varying experimental conditions. The results
indicate that the kinetics of the formation of perovskite depends upon
the starting parent material and PT-conditions. The incorporation of
chromium from Fe-Cr(10%) wire into corundum matrix at high temperature
and pressure has been investigated and discussed.
