Abstract

Nano-/microstructures of different materials synthetized into membrane templates are objects of growing interest because of their unique properties (one-dimentional structures) and connected with it potential application in many fields.

In INCT (Laboratory of Material Research) investigations concerning nano-/microstructures of silver haloids into track-etched membrane template have been undertaken. Such membranes are characterized by precise determined cylindrical pores with typical pore size in the range: (0.2 - 2.5) microns.

Suitable procedure for getting of above structures have been worked out. A sample of TM was compressed in the special two-part mould. In such mould simultaneously from both sides of a membrane sample proper solutions were introduced so into pores exchange reaction took place. Nano-/microstructures into pores and micrograins on the membrane surfaces were deposited. Scanning electron microscope (SEM) with X-ray microsonde was used for getting morphology and stoichiometry (AgCl, AgBr) of obtained samples.

Samples with AgCl structures have light-violet colour and samples with AgBr structures - light-yellow colour. Colour of samples practically do not change in case of scattering visible light. This fact is in contrast with darkening of AgCl or AgBr samples prepared in bulk (without using of membrane templates).

Influence of UV radiation (254 or 366 nnm) and 10 MeV electron beam radaition was observed. Samples darkened after exposition of above radiation. It was concluded that level of colour changing can be registered by the photometric method. It seems that obtained structures can be used as indicators of UV or ionising radiation.
