Abstract

Structural and optical properties of pure and Al-doped ZnO were investigated using X-Ray diffraction (XRD), IR transmittance and Photoluminescence. The nanopowders were obtained by means of sol-gel method: the pure ZnO and Al- doped (Al: 1%, 3%, 5%, 7% and 10%) were the chosen materials for our study. The prepared solutions were stirred at 60°C for 2 hours and calcinated at 500°C for 4 hours. The crystalline structure is wurtzite for both pure and doped powders and crystallites sizes become larger with doping. More characteristics were obtained by optical methods confirming the previous results and adding some effects as a function of different parameters.
