Welcome

On behalf of the Organizing Committee, I invite all ISFR members and all who are interested in fluoride research to attend the XXXth Conference of the International Society for Fluoride Research, which will be held September 5–8, 2012, in Szczecin, Poland. The welcome reception will commence at 15:00 and the opening ceremony at 19:00 on September 5. Attendees are also welcome to arrive on September 4 or earlier. The conference will finish at 15:00 on September 8. We are very pleased to be able to host everyone back to the beautiful city of Szczecin since the XXIIIrd ISFR conference was held here June 11–14, 2000.

Dariusz Chlubek MD, PhD
Professor, Department of Biochemistry and Medical Chemistry
Pomeranian Medical University, Szczecin, Poland
E-mail: [email protected]

On the occasion of the 160th anniversary of his birth, the Conference will be dedicated to Professor Henri Moissan (1852–1907), a Nobel Prize laureate in chemistry, who, in 1906 was awarded a Nobel Prize in Chemistry “in recognition of the great services rendered by him in his investigation and isolation of the element fluorine, and for the adoption in the service of science of the electric arc furnace named after him.”

Programme

The conference title Advances in fluoride research enables participants to present a wide range of topics concerning medical, chemical, biochemical, toxicological, environmental, industrial, agricultural, and other aspects of fluoride reactions and effects.

At present, participants are expected from Argentina, Ethiopia, Germany, India, Iran, Japan, Macedonia, Malaysia, New Zealand, Peoples Republic of China, Poland, Turkey and USA. Inquiries may be directed to: Professor Dariusz Chlubek, E-mail: [email protected]

Awards

Niloufer Chinoy Awards

Two Niloufer Chinoy Awards, each of €1000, as announced by Professor Jörg Spitz in October 2007 to honor the late Professor Niloufer Chinoy, will be given for the best oral and poster presentations at the conference by researchers, aged less than 35 at the closing date for the abstracts, June 30, 2012 (Fluoride 2007;40(4):222-5, Fluoride 2008;41(3):173-6).

The judging of the platform and the poster presentations, will be done by two teams of three judges. Scoring will be based on a 50-point scale with a maximum of 10 points for quality in each of the following five categories: (1) content, (2) presentation, (3) importance, (4) relevance to society, and (5) defense in discussion (Fluoride 2011;44(2):61-2).

Entitled researchers wishing to participate in the Niloufer Chinoy Awards competition are requested to inform the Organizers of this intention before 19.00 on Wednesday, September 5th at the registration desk.

Abstracts

Oral and poster presentations are invited on subjects related to fluoride. They can only be accepted for presentation when at least one of the authors is registered to attend the conference. All abstracts will be published as a retrievable record, which will be given to each participant.

The deadline for abstract submission was June 30, 2012.

Papers accepted for presentation at ISFR conferences are not automatically accepted for publication in Fluoride.

Proceedings
