“Aleksandër Moisiu” University, Durrës (hereinafter AMU) was opened in 2006-2007 academic year and in the first year enrolled a thousand students from almost all regions of the country.
AMU was composed of three main units as follows:
1- Faculty of EducationSince the beginning of its establishment, AMU has been designed to be a different university. It bases its work on Western best academia practices. Students are at the centre of attention in all activities and processes. Its organization, university life, study programmes, etc., are intended to be similar to those of Western best practices.
AMU in the beginning functioned according to the principles of the European Charter by combining the latter with the valuation of the USCr system. This is done so that the student graduated at AMU can have its diploma readable and recognized in various world countries if further studies would follow or for employment. The institution issues the diploma in Albanian and English and evaluation is expressed by ECTS and USCr system.
Another feature is that it has always been in constant contact with the local community trying all the time to establish collaborative bridges with regional development institutions of Durrës.In these ten years of experience, AMU has increased the qualitative and quantitative transformation, both horizontally and vertically. Currently, it counts 80 study programmes with additional related profiles in all three cycles, about ten thousand students, 270 academic staff employees as full-time organized into six main units, as follows:
1- Faculty of Business;
2- Faculty of Political Science and Law;
3- Faculty of Education;
4- Faculty of Professional Studies;
5- Faculty of Information Technology;
6- Faculty of Integrated Studies with Practice.
